How do I schedule a session with a counsellor?
There are several ways you can arrange to see a counsellor. You can schedule a session personally through our website using our online calendar, you can call one of the counsellors directly and schedule a session, you can ask to be referred by your employer or by a physician (required for sex therapy).
Is everything I discuss with my counsellor confidential?
Yes. All communications are confidential with the following limitations and/or exceptions: a) if it is determined you are a danger to yourself or someone else; b) if you disclose abuse/neglect/exploitation of a child, elderly, or disabled person; c) if you disclose inappropriate behavior by another mental health professional; d) if a court orders the disclosure of client information; e) if you direct the counselling center to release your records to another professional; f) or, if we are otherwise required by law to disclose information.
How much does counselling cost?
Parker Grey Counselling provides counselling services for several Employee Assistance Programs. If you have an Employee Assistance Program at your place of employment, you may be eligible for counselling sessions at no cost to you through that program. If you have insurance coverage (Blue Cross, Sun Life, etc.) you may have a portion of your counselling sessions covered. Every policy is different so it is the responsibility of the client to determine their eligibility for insurance coverage. For private sessions Parker Grey Counselling charges $140.00 per session.
Do you take Visa?
Yes. Parker Grey Counselling accepts cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard and EFT. We are unable to accept debit cards at this time.
How long will I be in counselling before I begin to see results?
Many people will experience benefits from their counselling sessions very quickly – 2-3 sessions. Some people may need to have more sessions. The nature of the counselling issue and the ability of the client to achieve the counselling goals will all be determinants of how soon the client can begin to experience positive change.
Can children have counselling?
Sometimes it can be advantageous for a child to have counselling. The age of the child and the presenting issue will all be taken in consideration and a decision will be made. If a counsellor is unable to see a child an appropriate referral will be made.
Are your counselling services wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Parker Grey Counselling is located on the ground level of a wheelchair accessible building which has handicapped marking near the main entrance.
Can friends or family members come with me to my counselling session?
Yes. The counselling session is yours and you may have anyone you like join you.
